Classification of Members
There are five classes of membership in the Association. They are:
- Standard Membership ($45) shall comprise all those individuals who are a Dean, Assistant/Vice Principal, Principal, or otherwise employed in any school position that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities normally associated with that of a school disciplinarian. Standard Members shall enjoy all rights, privileges, and benefits normally associated with and offered by the Association.
- Aspiring Membership ($22) shall comprise all those individuals who desire to become a Dean, Assistant/Vice Principal, or Principal by are currently teaching and/or employed in an school position that is outside the of duties and responsibilities normally associated with that of a school disciplinarian. Aspiring Members shall enjoy all the membership benefits of a Standard Member, but may not serve as a Committee Chair, hold office, and/or serve on the Executive Board. Nor may they receive the conference/convention discount rates that Standard Members enjoy. The annual dues for an Aspiring Member shall be 50% of those of a Standard Member.
- Senior Membership ($22) shall comprised all those individuals who have now retired from education and were a Dean, Assistant/Vice/Principal, Principal, or otherwise employed in any school position that was directly related to the duties and responsibilities normally associated with that of a school disciplinarian. Senior Members shall enjoy all the membership benefits and privileges of a Standard Member, including that of holding office, serving as a Committee Chair, and/or serving on the Executive Board. The annual dues for a Senior Member shall be 50% of those of a Standard Member.
- Life Membership shall be granted by action of the Executive Board to any member who has served as President of the Association and/or rendered exemplary service to the Association. A Life Member shall enjoy all membership benefits and privileges of a Standard Member, including that of holding office, serving as a Committee Chair, and/or serving on the Executive Board. Life Members are exempt from paying all dues and fees. However, to remain active in the Association, Life Members must complete the annual membership registration form and submit it to the Association prior to October 31st of each year.
- Honorary Membership shall be granted by action of the Executive Board to those individuals who have rendered exemplary service to the Association and/or field of education. Honorary Members shall enjoy all membership benefits and privileges of a Standard Member. However, Honorary Members may not vote, serve as a Committee Chair, hold office, and/or serve on the Executive Board. To remain active in the Association, Honorary Members must complete the annual membership registration form and submit it to the Association prior to October 31st of each year.
Joint Membership Agreement between the ISDA and IPA
Any person who is employed as a Dean of Students in any elementary, middle, or secondary school, public or private, in the State of Illinois and is a dues paying member of the Illinois Principals Association (IPA) shall be eligible to have their yearly Illinois State Deans' Association (ISDA) membership dues paid by the IPA as a benefit of membership.
